In 1972, Cartier entered a new era when a consortium of investors bought out Cartier Paris, followed by the New York and London branches, reuniting under one umbrella. Soon after in 1973, Cartier released the Louis Cartier Collection. This was a selection of twelve different models, some historic and some brand new, that would be serially produced.
This Ceinture is one of the historic designs that the newly reunited Cartier decided to release. First imagined in 1927, and taking inspiration from a belt buckle, the Ceinture features a square double-stepped case with cut corners. One of the defining features is the unadorned octagonal crown that sits within the case, without the usual cabochon and displaying a more minimalist aesthetic. The watch is manual wind and was originally released in two sizes, with this being the larger one. It is cased in 18k yellow gold and features the standard white and black roman numerals dial, signed ‘PARIS’.
