CARTIER LONDON TANK LOUIS SMALL SIZE
Cartier opened its first London branch in 1902 and two years later in 1904 they received their first Royal warrant from Edward VII, a huge step for La Maison. In 1909, they relocated to New Bond St, where their famous store still operates today, and under the leadership of Jacques Cartier the branch continued to thrive. Watches produced out of the Cartier London workshops, made in very low numbers, often carried a uniqueness in their design compared to the Paris alternatives, then in the 1960’s they created completely distinct models such as the Crash, Maxi Oval and Pebble that have become brand icons. The rarity and special aesthetic of Cartier London watches has made them highly valuable today and continuously sort after by collectors.
This beautiful small-sized Cartier London Tank Louis comes in 18k yellow gold. The attractive white dial is in typical London design with larger black Roman numerals and no minute track. The watch dates to 1965 and comes in very good condition with just some small scratches showing on the glass, which is most likely original. Fitted to a custom crocodile strap, the case and deployment clasp share matching numbers and London hallmarks. Altogether, a superb and hard to find timepiece from Cartier Londons greatest era.
