CARTIER TANK LOUIS

The Cartier Tank is a staple for any collector of vintage Cartier. The Tank has varied in design over time but all models carry the same timeless elegance. The Tank Louis is one of the most famous and was first introduced in 1922, named after Louis Cartier himself.

This charming Tank Louis is dated to the 1960’s and comes in excellent condition. It is fitted with a white dial in classic Cartier style with black arabic numerals, chemin de fer minute scale and signed ‘PARIS’. The case is 18k yellow gold, signed ‘MADE IN FRANCE’ and hand-stamped with the French eagle, as well as the ‘EJ’ hallmark denoting the partnership with Edmond Jaeger. The same hallmarks can also be found on the deployant clasp. Cartier timepieces of this era were made in far fewer numbers than later during the 1970’s and to a higher quality in craftsmanship. This rarity, along with the distinctive features such as the larger cabochon crown and overall hand-made feel set it apart and make it all the more desirable.
