CARTIER TANK NORMALE 'EXTRA PLATE'

The Cartier Tank Normale is one of the most famous Cartier models. Introduced in 1917, it was inspired by the Renault FT-17 tank used in World War One. The design is understated but refined, and I believe one of the best Cartier has ever came up with.

The ‘Extra Plate’ version that we have on offer here is noticeably thinner than the standard size, wearing seamlessly on the wrist. The watch is dated to the 1960’s, and comes from the Paris branch, when all Cartier timepieces were being produced in very low numbers and beautifully hand made to a high quality. The condition is fantastic, with an 18k gold case stamped with the French eagle head and ‘EJ’ Edmond Jaeger hallmarks, that are also showing on the deployment clasp. The dial carries all the charm you’d expect from a 60’s Cartier, with the textured print, and is also in excellent condition.
