The Rolex ref.3139 is referred to as the ‘Oyster Army’. It has a unique place in Rolex’s history due to its design and the fact it was supplied to the allied forces during World War Two, it is thought approximately 3000 were supplied during this time. The watch came in many different dial designs and layouts, often with luminous hands and hour markers, but always with Rolex’s famous Oyster screw back case and screw down crown.

This example comes with applied gold coloured Arabic numerals, perfectly blued leaf hands and centre seconds. The standout angular cushion-shaped case, a modern design given the watch is almost 80 years old, has maintained its original finish with razor sharp edges. This watch is dated to 1946, just after the wars conclusion, but comes in a condition that makes it a stand out example.
